The Old Man and The Sea is a heroic novel by Earnest Hemingway which narrates the story of an aging Cuban fisherman, Santiago, who has not caught a fish for 84 days and his battle to catch a giant Marlin. This 1953 Pulitzer prize winner describes how after hooking the giant marlin to his boat, the sharks get attracted to the tethered fish and eat it, leaving behind a skeleton, though the fisherman manages to kill a few. Discouraged, the fisherman goes home and sleeps, till the boy who he was mentoring, finds him alive and they both decide to go fishing together. This book teaches many life lessons such as men proving their worth by facing and overcoming challenges of nature and will be a thrilling read for every reader.

Author : Ernest Hemingway

The first full biography of Ernest Hemingway in more than fifteen years is the first to draw on a wide array of never-before-used material, resulting in the most nuanced portrait to date of this complex, enigmatic artist. Considered in his time the greatest living American writer, Hemingway was a winner of the Pulitzer Prize and the Nobel Prize whose personal demons undid him in the end, and whose novels and stories have influenced the writing of fiction for generations after his death. Mary V. Dearborn’s revelatory investigation of his life and work substantially deepens our understanding of the artist and the man.
