Shamika Chaves is a children’s book author, illustrator and graphic designer who’s based in Mumbai, India.

Born into a family of artists, she successfully pursued a degree in applied art and now, best expresses herself through her illustrations. She enjoys the freedom of hand-rendered illustrations, often using digital media to enhance them. Her work is inspired by the simple joys of everyday life. She lives and works in her cosy little home with her husband, Christopher, and their six-year-old tortoise, Sebastian. 

Shamika has worked on several children’s books including her first two books as an author and illustrator – Your Journal Of Memories and Happy Holidays! both of which were published by HarperCollins India in 2018 and 2019 respectively.

She has also worked on her very first comic strip in the third book of HarperCollins India’s Flipped series – Sports Stories/ School Stories, which hit stands in January 2020. 

The Lucky series – Lucky, It’s Diwali!, Lucky, It’s Not Just A Christmas Story!,

Lucky, It’s Summer!, Flipped – Scary Stories/ Funny Stories, Flipped – GhostStories/ Adventure Stories, Ten Heads For Tanuj are some of the books that she has illustrated for HarperCollins India, while also having illustrated The Boy Who Swallowed A Nail And Other Stories for Scholastic India.
